On May 14, 1981, Dorothy Barclay's dream of owning a supper club became a reality. After years of waitressing, Dorothy took a leap of faith alongside her sister-in-law, Dolores. Dorothy's husband, John, already owned Barclay's Bar and Lounge on Main Street, so Barclay II was born.

The town was on the brink of change, the once-booming smelter was now a relic, but Dorothy's spirit remained unbroken. She had seen the potential in the community. Word spread quickly about the dining experience at Barclay II, and soon the restaurant was bustling with loyal customers. The warm and welcoming staff, led by Dorothy and Dolores' children and grandchildren, ensured that every patron felt like family.

Through the ups and downs of the community, Barclay II remained a beacon of consistency and quality. Its loyal customer base continued to grow thanks to the delicious food, friendly service, and inviting ambiance. As the years rolled by, the town of Anaconda faced its share of trials, but Barclay II remained steadfast.

The day Dorothy passed away was a somber one, the kitchen's usual clamor hushed by a grief that extended beyond the walls of the restaurant. The town mourned the loss of a loving humble woman, the woman who had fed them not just with food, but with hope and resilience. The burden of continuing her legacy fell upon Sandy, Diana, and Karen. Sandy had always worked alongside her mother, while Karen and Diana lived away. Dorothy and John's grandchildren had grown up learning from their grandparents. They vowed to honor her memory by keeping the restaurant's doors open, serving up the same steaks that had become synonymous with the heart of the community.

In 2021 Sandy, now in her golden years, decided to pass the torch to the next generation. She had seen the love and dedication in the eyes of the next generation and knew that they were ready to carry on the tradition. The decision was made with a mix of pride and a hint of melancholy; the restaurant that had been her second home for so long was now in the hands of the third generation of Barclays. Yet, she has remained a steadfast presence, offering guidance and a comforting shoulder whenever needed.

1300 East Commercial had been the home of Barclay II for 40 years, and on May 30th, 2021, the final meal was served at that location. On July 9, 2021, Barclay II once again opened its doors, but this time at 98 Union Avenue. The Barclay family was met with a palpable excitement that resonated through the streets of Anaconda. The community gathered, eager to embrace the familiar faces of the Barclay family in their new venture. The Forge Hotel loomed in the background, a symbol of the town's rebirth. The new restaurant nestled within its east yards was a testament to the enduring spirit of the family and the community of Anaconda forging into the future.

Today, the legacy of Barclay II lives on, a testament to the power of following one's dreams and creating a place where people can come together to enjoy great food and create lasting memories, Dorothy's unwavering belief in the power of hard work and determination! Her legacy lives on, reminding us of all that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible.
